ABOUT THE ARTIST

"The painter constructs, the photographer discloses" - Susan Sontag

I am a Vietnamese-born painter and photographer residing in Simsbury, Connecticut. My family immigrated to the United States in the early 1980s and settled in Connecticut, where I have lived since. During the day, I work full-time as an epidemiologist, conducting surveillance and investigating infectious disease outbreaks. Outside of my career, I am passionate about painting and photography. I began my painting and photography journey in early 2021, as personal pursuits, to provide much needed balance to my daily busy work life as an epidemiologist.

Oil is the medium with which I learned to paint and I enjoy creating with it because of its rich color depth and flexibility. I enjoy painting a wide range of subject matters that I find captivating and allow me to continue to grow as an artist.

As a photographer, I am drawn to imagery that discloses and reveals the innate beauty of nature, wildlife, our surroundings, and capture that one singular moment that can tell a story beyond any written words. Being outdoors with a camera in hand is one of my greatest joys.
